costume help?

I am a 20 year old, newly married and looking to update my wardrobe. I'm tired of torn jeans, shirts and sandals. I work on a good day care, but also like going out with my girls, relaxing nights with other couples, or just my husband. Also attending a lot of "nicer" social gatherings – the baby showers, weddings etc. And I'm going to school part time. I need help with my closet I have basically nothing. Need to know what staples to get some trendy pieces, and shoes and accessories. I'm not too out there, but not totally conservative either. I do not want to just head to the store with $ 2000 and return with a load of crap. So detailed and I know what I need! Thank you all in advance, this is sooo appreciated!
